Welcome to the new Gray’s Crossing website! After several years with a less than inspired web presence, we’re pleased to give Gray’s Crossing the internet home it deserves. My name is Jay Lambiotte. I’ve been involved with Gray’s since the inception of the project – first as a project manager at East West Partners (for whom I still happily toil) and then as a homeowner. I want to deliver a very simple message – this is a fantastic place to live!

There’s plenty of good marketing copy in the website above. What I (and the other contributors to this blog) want to do is give you a more personal view of real life at Gray’s Crossing. There has been plenty of negative comment (some of it factual but plenty of rumor as well) about this community. You should know that Gray’s is not “unfinished” or “about to fail.” In fact, Gray’s infrastructure is 100% complete. The Golf Club at Gray’s Crossing (operated by Tahoe Mountain Club) will open this May for its sixth season of uninterrupted operation. Gray’s Crossing is well done, while also being understated and unpretentious. Our Homeowner’s Association is in sound financial condition with industry normal delinquency levels and well-funded reserves. The community received an important boost this fall when LDK Capital, respected developers from Sacramento, purchased 81 of the 377 homesites from the French bank Societe Generale. LDK Capital, in cooperation with the HOA, is investing money in marketing and new improvements to the community that we’ll share with you as the year progresses. We have 15 terrific new homes in design review and expect many of those to break ground this summer.

So enough on the business stuff and on to the future of this blog – writing about what makes this a great place to live. We’re going to tell you about our favorite hikes, bike rides, beaches, golf holes and watering holes. Here’s a start with my personal “Top 5 Reasons Why I love living at Gray’s Crossing:”

  1. Looking at sunrises, sunset alpen glow with the occasional moonrise mixed in on Mt. Rose. And you know what? I never look at a power line because they are all underground.
  2. Less drive time to everywhere. I’m downtown for dinner or coffee in 2 minutes. I’m at Northstar in 10 minutes. I’m at Squaw Valley in 15 minutes. I’m at the Reno Airport in 32 minutes (27 if you want to risk it).
  3. A margarita in hand while I watch my three kids (Scout –age 5, and twins, Sam and Tyson – age 3) play on the lawn at PJ’s.
  4. The 30-minute hike that can be expanded to an hour-long trail run through open space from my back door.
  5. Summer dinners outside in the backyard.
