With the Olympics in full swing, the vibe at Squaw Valley is contagious so I decided to take a drive out there yesterday to get a glimpse of some new developments and just enjoy the incredible views and ambiance of the Village. KCRA 3 News has the Olympic Zone set up in Squaw where you can watch the games outdoors near the warmth of the fire pit on the big screen while being surrounded by some of the best mountain views you will find anywhere.
I also had the pleasure of touring the historic PlumpJack Squaw Valley Inn and learning about the new development on the horizon. Located at the base of iconic Tram Face at Squaw, PlumpJack was originally built as the home for the 1960 Winter Olympic delegation. It has been a very popular place for apres ski fine dining and of course the sought after Tahoe wedding over the years.
Starting this spring the PlumpJack Group will be completely rebuilding the PlumpJack Squaw Valley Inn and Residences. This will consist of 59 guest rooms available in the hotel and 34 residences ranging from 2 bedroom + Den all the way up to 4 bedroom +Den Penthouses. The projected completion will be the winter of 2019 and the developer is currently taking priority reservations. The architect is award wining CCY of Aspen, Colorado and their goal is to provide a property with “forward-thinking design that reflects the warmth and charm of the existing inn that combines with PlumpJack’s signature high-touch amenities and services.”
Below is a brief run down of the 34 residences:
- 2 Bedroom + Den: Approximately 1,750 – 2,785 sq. ft. $2,300,000 – $3,500,000
- 3 Bedroom: Approximately 1,930 sq. ft. $2,500,000 – $3,200,000
- 3 Bedroom + Den: Approximately 2,430 sq. ft. $2,500,000 – $3,900,000
- 4 Bedroom: Approximately 2,700 sq. ft. $3,700,000 to $4,300,000
- 4 Bedroom + Den Penthouses: Approximately 4,200 – 4,500 sq. ft. (Price available upon request)
