Greetings –

Most of us will spend the last hours of 2015 with loved ones, reflecting on the good and bad of the year past and making resolutions for the year ahead. Today, I started mine early. My only resolution is to enjoy the simple things with my two boys; they are one and four years old and I already feel as if they will be 18 and off to college in the blink of an eye. The amazing thing about kids is their awesome imaginations and ability to turn anything into a toy and any place into a playground. That couldn’t have been more evident in our yard during a balmy 12 degree Truckee morning. My son’s playground turned into a pirate ship and I was his crew searching for sea monsters, his sandbox was the construction site for building castles, and the slide was the fireman pole to slide down. It’s fun to experience things through the eyes of a child…things seem so much bigger to them. There is a “mountain” in our backyard that we sled over. In reality it is a 1 foot jump that the neighbor boys built when they were young…now they are both in college, but leave it up for all of our great adventures to come.

ACTIVITIES:
If you have yet to make your New Year’s Eve plans, there’s plenty to celebrate a the Village at Northstar at the Fire & Ice Celebration. A day and night full of events include live music, champagne toasts, complementary s’mores, face painting, and parade. The party culminates with a spectacular fireworks show at 9:00 p.m. I hope to see you there.

PICK OF THE WEEK:
With the perfect built-in sledding hill that backs to private open space in Gray’s Crossing, this mountain estate is one of the best locations you will find in Truckee. The home is not currently listed on the MLS, but the sellers have released a price of $1,799,000 and completion date of early to mid-February for you to enjoy the rest of winter. This is a great value as this home would be well North of $2M in Lahontan and $3M in Martis Camp, while boasting some of the best Carson Range and Northstar views you will find in the area. You will also enjoy access to the intimate fitness center with pool, hot tub and sanctuary as part of the Gray’s Crossing homeowners association. This 4 bed 5 bath at 3,834 sq.ft home includes a recreation room, mud and laundry room off of the garage, a sky lounge which can be a flex room used for yoga or reading and relaxing, two covered porches and a paver covered patio in rear that wraps around the Northeast of the house to a location perfect for a hot tub and outdoor fire pit. With timeless architecture and reclaimed but modern materials, the sellers are sparing no expense with this project. Feel free to contact me If you have interest and we can tour the property before it comes on the MLS.
