I often hear around tax season how expensive it is to live in CA and many people contemplate leaving the state to seek other fun resort areas where they can live the same lifestyle and save a little money. With an international airport 45 minutes away in Reno and the ocean and Bay area a short 3-4 hour drive, we can cover a lot of ground and maximum the fun factor any season of the year.
The other day I saw my friend Daron Huck in one of my favorite coffee shops, Zuri Coffee CO. Daron owns Tahoe Dirt Bikes and everyday you will find him out guiding clients on tours or riding mountain bikes, dirt bikes, timbersled snow bikes and RZRs all over the Reno Tahoe area and promoting his business. He invited me out for a dirt bike ride to the Lemon Valley OHV area a few days ago just outside of Reno. Of course I said yes and we had the best time ripping around the beautiful desert and climbing mountains with views all over the Great Basin including Pyramid Lake. He doesn’t miss a beat with his clients as he has a headset connected to his helmet so he can stop and answer any client questions or book an upcoming tour. Daron went straight from the desert to the mountains today riding fresh powder on his timbersleds.

The very next day I found myself dropping my 3 year old off for his Mountain Camp ski school at Squaw Valley. Squaw happened to have a foot of fresh snow and I was able to make some powder turns in the morning while my son was having the time of his life skiing in the snow storm with his little buddies. After the last couple of days I am ready to put my hot tub to some use and it is such a good reminder why I love living here and raising my family in such an amazing area – it is worth every penny…
