I have some exciting news to report on with regards to the Truckee Railyard project that we have been waiting for so patiently. The project just received an $8 million dollar grant to bring its total secured funding to $14 million. This will allow developer Rick Holiday to start installing infrastructure with sewer, utilities and roads which should begin late summer/early fall. I see the Railyard project as one of the biggest milestones for Truckee to help complete a growing community and give it the identity it deserves as one of the most desirable mountain towns to live in.
The Truckee Railyard Project will have three phases for the following developments:
Phase 1 – Extension of Downtown Truckee, including a movie and performing arts theater, new restaurant, grocery store, retail building, and mixed income and workforce housing
Phase 2A – Additional housing; single- and multi-family homes in a development called Trout Creek
Phase 2B – Multi-family residential, artisan and commercial spaces
